WeMindTheGap Impact Report 2022–2024

WeMindTheGap is a charity supporting young people aged 18–25 who are NEET (not in education, employment or training) and facing significant barriers, including social anxiety, homelessness, lack of confidence and trauma. Between September 2022 and August 2024 its WeGrow programme delivered 4 cycles across Manchester, Wrexham and Flintshire, with 60% of completers moving into work. WeDiscover reached 196 young people virtually across 6 cycles. Its WeBelong alumni network actively supported 154 Gappies. The Big Conversation consulted 419 young people and 105 Wrexham employers, directly shaping new programmes including WeInspire! for persistent school non-attenders and a Bridge to Employment offer. A Welsh language version of all materials was launched in 2024.

  • 1,500 hours of Buddy time provided by WeBelong alumni supporting WeGrow with lived experience; 1,000 additional hours spent supporting a homeless Gappie in emergency accommodation with no transport, laundry or cooking facilities — who secured permanent housing
  • 9% of WeGrow participants returned to education; 23% took up volunteering; 1 Gappie came out to their cohort at graduation; 1 Gappie saw the sea for the first time; WeInspire! pilot group delivered a TEDtalk at Wrexham University

750 young people reached each week across 25 sessions at 19 locations through Blend Youth Project; 72 students in alternative education (100% achieved accredited outcomes); 8,000 children engaged each term through Quest schools programme at 46 schools
