The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea around the UK and Ireland, operating through volunteer lifeboat crews, beach lifeguards, and water safety education. In 2022 — its busiest year on record in the past decade — lifeboat crews launched 9,312 times, aided 16,476 people, and saved 506 lives. Lifeguards aided a further 23,204 people on 242 of 245 lifeguarded beaches, and water safety teams reached more than 14 million people with vital safety messages.
