About

Move Different works with schools to listen to young people, using structured surveys and meaningful follow-up conversations to identify pupils who need support and connect them with help early.

Key Metrics

Students surveyed 335 students completed surveys during the pilot - 177 Year 7 pupils and 158 Year 9 pupils at Therfield School in Leatherhead.
Meaningful conversations 166 meaningful follow-up conversations facilitated with students through the pilot.
New concerns found 34 students (61% of those followed up in one survey round) disclosed new concerns through the process, enabling earlier support.
Hidden needs uncovered The survey revealed 22% of Year 7 pupils reported current worries and 7% had no one to talk to, needs the school could then act on.

Key Outcomes

  • The pilot demonstrated that a simple, structured process can uncover hidden needs before they develop, showing the concept is both needed and effective in real-world educational settings.
