Dementia Oxfordshire Impact Report 2024

Dementia Oxfordshire is a service of Age UK Oxfordshire, commissioned by Oxfordshire County Council and jointly funded with the NHS. In 2024, the service supported 2,845 people with dementia and 3,585 carers through 22 Dementia Advisers, handled 789 Support Line calls, and delivered 530 places across education sessions. A two-year Admiral Nurse pilot embedded specialist clinical expertise into the team, and a new Memory Support Service launched in April 2024 for those without a formal diagnosis.

Key Outcomes

  • 96% of professional survey respondents who worked with the Admiral Nurse agreed the role positively impacted care; Admiral Nurse worked with over 20 health and social care teams including Adult Social Care, District Nurses, Community Hospitals and palliative care teams
  • 83% of survey respondents would recommend Dementia Oxfordshire; 87% of carers and people with dementia agreed their Dementia Adviser provided helpful practical advice and information; 81% found the Support Line reassuring
  • Memory Support Service launched April 2024 for people with memory worries but without a formal diagnosis; 120+ clients with young onset dementia (diagnosed before 65) supported by three dedicated Young Onset Dementia Advisers
