Chapter One Impact Report 2024-25

Chapter One's 2024-25 Impact Report, published in February 2026, shares evaluation results from all three of its reading programmes for the first time. In 2024-25 the charity supported 3,388 children through Online Reading Volunteers, Early Literacy Intervention and Book Clubs, with 2,957 volunteers from 149 corporate partners giving the equivalent of 2.8 years of reading support in one academic year. In the Online Reading Volunteers programme 88% of children increased by at least one reading level and 91% improved their reading knowledge and functional skills; in the Early Literacy Intervention 95% of children passed their national Phonics Screening Check; and the Book Club pilot was evaluated by the Open University's Reading for Pleasure Unit.
